Panikkar's Seminar

Where is the wisdom that we have
we have lost with knowledge?
And where is the knowledge that we have
we have lost with information?
                                                                 T. S. Eliot

The Raimon Panikkar Seminar on Intercultural Thinking was born at the end of the 2007-08 academic year. It is hosted by the Ferrater Mora Chair and has its support, but it operates with full autonomy, under the name and figure of Raimon Panikkar on the occasion of his honorary doctorate from the University of Girona, and as a dynamizing study group of the Raimon Panikkar Fund deposited in the Old Quarter Library of the Faculty of Arts.

The seminar aims to be a space for study and meditation, based on working with the texts of the great traditions of wisdom, as well as contemporary thought from various philosophical fields with an intercultural perspective. In tune with the figure and work of Raimon Panikkar, this seminar aims to achieve a balance between the necessary academic rigor of intellectual work, and a necessary and inevitable inner search and spiritual growth.

Raimon Panikkar was familiar with this seminar since its inception, and in July 2009, we made a pilgrimage to Tavertet to visit him, introduce ourselves and thank him wholeheartedly for his mastery.

Barely a year after our visit to Tavertet, Raimon Panikkar left us, and in September 2010, at the beginning of a new school year, we remembered him, with a reading of texts and a shared silence, in the cloister of the Faculty of Arts.
