Jaume Serra Húnter

Jaume Serra Húnter (Manresa, 1878 - Cuernavaca, Mexico, 1943) was one of the leading philosophers of the so-called Barcelona School. During the Second Republic he held the post of rector of the University of Barcelona and was a member of the Catalan Parliament. At the end of the Civil War, he went into exile, first in France and then in Mexico, where he was a member of the Consell Nacional de Catalunya until his death in 1943.

Call for Abstracts

The Ferrater Mora Chair will focus this year’s Trias Symposium on the work and figure of JAUME SERRA HÚNTER (Manresa, 1878 - Cuernavaca, Mexico, 1943), commemorating the 80th anniversary of his death. Serra Húnter was one of the leading philosophers of the so-called Barcelona School. During the Second Republic he held the post of rector of the University of Barcelona and was a member of the Catalan Parliament. At the end of the Civil War, he went into exile, first in France and then in Mexico, where he was a member of the Consell Nacional de Catalunya until his death in 1943.

The Symposium is organised jointly with the Democratic Memorial and will be held in Manresa on 15 and 16 June 2023, as part of the VI Congrés Català de Filosofia.

By means of this message we are opening the call for abstracts for the Symposium. The deadline for submission is 14 February 2023. In mid-March, the scientific committee of the symposium will communicate to those interested the acceptance or not of the proposal. Length: 2 pages maximum. It must be sent to dir.cfm@udg.edu.
