In 2016, the Ferrater Mora Foundation (Pennsylvania, USA) and the Ferrater Mora Chair of Contemporary Thought of the University of Girona announced the 3rd Ferrater Mora Award. In this third edition, and exceptionally, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the death of Ferrater Mora, the prize was awarded to the best original and unpublished comic that dealt with the life and work of José Ferrater Mora.

The prize had two categories or phases, for the best script and the best illustration project (see prize rules). The winners of the Prize were announced during the ceremony commemorating the 25th anniversary of the death of José Ferrater Mora: the winners were the writer Josep Pastells (script category) and the illustrator Ivan Garcia (illustration category). The comic was publishedin 2017.
