Dialogue between Arthur Grimonpont (author of the book Algoritmocràcia (Llibres del Segle) and Elena Parreño (Professor of Cultural Communication at the UdG). Thursday, June 5, at 18.30h, in the multipurpose room of the Cultural Center La Mercè. Free admission but we recommend registration here. Conversation in French with simultaneous translation into Catalan.
“Although they claim to be guarantors of freedom of expression, social platforms are becoming the most powerful carriers of misinformation, divisive ideas, distortions and conspiracy theories. While they aim to connect us, they isolate people and reduce the time we spend with family and friends. While they are intended to promote exchange and debate, they feed our attraction to conflict, trap us in information bubbles, encourage ideological retrenchment, atomize society and erode our common value base. It is urgent to regulate these spaces and consider them for what they have become: the new public spaces of society.” (A. Grimonpont)
