José Ferrater Mora Centenary

The Conference dedicated to the philosopher José Ferrater Mora (Barcelona 1912-1991) on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth took place on 7th November 2012 in the Josep Viader Auditorium of the Casa de Cultura in Girona, and on 8th November in the Sala Prat de la Riba of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans in Barcelona.

The Girona event was attended by the Rector of the University of Girona, the Mayor of Girona and the widow of Ferrater Mora, Prof. Priscilla Cohn. In Barcelona, the event was co-organised with the Institut d’Estudis Catalans and the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes de la Generalitat de Catalunya, and was attended by scholars and disciples of José Ferrater Mora.

This centenary was widely reported in the press and the very complete dossier published by Diari ARA on Sant Jordi’s Day 2012 is worth mentioning. La Vanguardia (12th September), the magazine El Triangle (12th October) and El País (11th November) also published extensive reports. Two interviews with Prof. Priscilla Cohn, Ferrater Mora’s widow, were published on the occasion of these events, in the Diari de Girona and El Punt Avui.. Articles were also written by Carles Ribera, Jaume Renyer, Carles Geli, Josep Massot, Victòria CampsJosep M. Puigjaner and Sal·lus Herrero..

Also noteworthy are the writings on the commemorative agenda of the Generalitat, the Institute of Catalan Studies and the Biblioteques Públiques de Catalunya.
